Dear Supporters, Donors, and Friends of Brothers' Keepers of Haiti,
It is both a privilege and a profound responsibility to stand before you as we reflect on the incredible journey of the Brothers' Keepers of Haiti and the challenges we face together.
As many of you know, Brothers' Keepers of Haiti was founded in 2016 with a mission rooted in compassion, faith, and an unwavering commitment to transforming lives. We have dedicated ourselves to providing nutritional support and education to the underserved communities of southeast Haiti, particularly in Orangers. Today, I want to share with you not only our achievements but also the resilience that defines our work amidst the growing challenges in our beloved Haiti.
Haiti is enduring one of its darkest chapters. Gang violence has escalated to unprecedented levels, with over 5,600 lives lost last year alone. Children—innocent and vulnerable—are increasingly caught in this turmoil. More than a million children live under the influence or control of armed gangs, facing threats of recruitment, violence, and exploitation. Schools and medical facilities are under attack, and humanitarian efforts are often obstructed. This is the reality we navigate every day as we strive to serve those who depend on us.
Despite these challenges, Brothers' Keepers of Haiti remains steadfast. We refuse to let fear dictate our mission. Instead, we draw strength from our faith, from the support of individuals like you, and from the hope that every child we help is a step toward a brighter future for Haiti.
In Orangers, our elementary school continues to be a sanctuary for 45 children—a place where they can learn, grow, and dream beyond the chaos around them. Our nutritional programs ensure that these children can access meals that nourish their bodies and minds. These efforts are not just about survival; they are about planting seeds of hope and resilience in a generation that will one day rebuild this nation.
We also extend our reach through medical missions and mobile clinics, providing essential healthcare to remote areas where such services are scarce or nonexistent. Every vaccine administered, every meal served, and every lesson taught is a testament to what your support makes possible.
The path forward is not without obstacles. The violence has made it harder to access some communities and has increased the cost of delivering aid. Yet, we remain undeterred. With your continued support, we aim to expand our programs—introducing basic computer skills for our students and laying the groundwork for a Christian Academy that will serve up to 50 to 70 children with education, technical training, and moral guidance.
We also envision dormitories for students who need a haven during the academic year. These dreams may seem ambitious given the current climate, but they are necessary steps toward breaking the cycle of poverty and violence.
I ask each of you to reaffirm your commitment to this mission tonight. Your donations provide more than food or school supplies—they provide hope in a time when hope is scarce. Your prayers fortify us against despair. Your advocacy amplifies our voice in calling for international attention to Haiti's plight.
Remember Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This belief sustains us as we navigate these turbulent times. Together, with faith as our foundation and love as our guide, we can continue to be a light in the darkness for Orangers and beyond.
Thank you for standing with us, for believing in Haiti’s future, and for being part of this journey toward transformation.
May God bless you all abundantly.
With gratitude and hope,
Herold Lessage
